Trainee Animal Technician
Loughborough, East Midlands

Our Client is looking for an Animal Technician to join their team based in Loughborough.

As an animal technician, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Providing food, water and bedding to the animals
  • Changing cages and associated equipment
  • Performing cleaning duties within the animal rooms and facility
  • Coordinating with vendors and supervisors on operational, administrative and technical responsibilities
  • Overseeing procurement of animals and supplies, preventive maintenance of facility equipment
  • Performing some surgery and post-operative care as directed.
  • Ensuring that animal husbandry and procedural records are kept up to date and are accurate on the in-house computer database system.

What we need from you:

  • The ability to learn and have empathy with the animals and the capability to develop the requisite skills.
  • Previous experience of working with (and handling) animals would be beneficial
  • A minimum of 3 A*-C including Maths, Science and English
  • IT Skills of a good standard.
  • Animal Care or Animal Management qualifications at Level 2 or higher

You may will be required to support the daily, weekend and public holiday work rotation system.
