Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Biologist to support activities in the areas of manufacture of critical reagents used in Bio-assays, such as ELISA coats, ELISA conjugates, reference toxins, frozen microbial stock cultures, etc.  This is a temporary position for approximately 18 months.

The remit is to develop new processes and assays, followed by transfer to the manufacturing plants and to the quality control (QC) laboratories. Additionally the team optimises existing processes and assays, and proactively manages troubleshooting activities within the Manufacturing Division to ensure supply needs are met, new products are launched in a timely manner, and that compliance and competitive value are achieved across the Manufacturing Division network of sites.

Job Description:

  • Organise and execute laboratory experiments and aspects of departmental procedures according to GLP/GMP and SHE compliance requirements
  • Organise and execute assay transfer such as ELISA, serology, etc., between two different laboratories
  • Manufacture of critical reagents for bioassays
  • Report results internally and (as required) publish and present technical reports to internal and external audiences
  • Perform project related literature searches
  • Interact closely with fellow scientists and global/regional colleagues within own and other departments
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary and international team and environment

Job requirements:

  • Bsc or MSc in Biological / Life sciences or Biochemistry
  • Knowledge in the following areas of biology: ELISA, microbiology, cell culture and cell-based assays and/or physicochemical  laboratory techniques
  • Experience in a laboratory using a LIMS system
  • Ability to function in a complex working environment
  • Demonstrated scientific problem solving capabilities
  • Innovative, ambitious can do mentality
