Licensed Animal Technician

Our client specialises in carrying out in-vivo research and development with the primary aim of protecting the UK public from various health risks. Current examples of their ground breaking work include vaccine release testing, meningitis, influenza and TB vaccine development studies. This is a full time, permanent opportunity for the right candidate, situated in Wiltshire.

Key Requirements of the role

Below are a few of the key requirements of this role:

Work within the ‘BIG’ team; performing animal husbandry, continually striving to maintain the highest standards of care and welfare of all animals
Conducting complex experimental procedures under Home Office License
Work within containment levels 2 and 3

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in animal care and welfare issues, a safety-conscious attitude and a good understanding of why animals are used for research purposes.

Continued Personal Development is encouraged by the client, who will provide further training to allow your professional development to continue.

The client is keen to combine their national laboratories, to create one of the world’s leading centres’ for life science. This does mean that the post will move from Wiltshire to Essex between 2021 and 2024 as part of our client’s major development.

Role requirements

To apply for this role, you will have the following skills and qualifications:

IAT Level 2 or equivalent
Be a Home Office Personal Licence holder
Be trained in both theoretical and practical elements of working within containment levels 2 and 3 in an in-vivo setting
Working knowledge of a wide range of laboratory animals
Detailed knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act ASPA 1986
