Senior Animal Technician – London

S3 Science has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Animal Technician to join our client’s facility in London. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the technical excellence and successful operation of the Central Biomedical Services. Our client is a high achieving University, that takes pride in animal welfare and their ground breaking research.

Key Responsibilities:
Daily documentation of all environmental parameters in accordance with the ASPA and reporting abnormal conditions
Husbandry of various species to include cleaning, watering and feeding, and daily health monitoring
Maintaining appropriate breeding records, informing researchers of performance and available numbers of specified strains
The breeding of normal, mutant and Genetically Altered rodents by accepted methods, ensuring the avoidance of over production of animals
Maintenance of rodents within secondary containment systems, Isolators and Individually Ventilated Cages

Experience and Qualifications
Applicants should ideally have a minimum practical experience of two years working with animals either in the field and/or as a Home Office Personal Licence holder. The candidate will be suitably qualified as a graduate in an animal or biological/ecological science related field or in animal technology and preferably have some supervisory experience.

They will be required to understand principles and concepts associated with specialist areas caring for wild mammals, birds and laboratory species; and use their expertise in a hands on and supervisory manner.
The post will involve planning variable daily workloads recording data accurately to GLP standard and requires a flexible approach, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
