Senior Scientist (Clinical Trials)
Bristol, South West

Senior Scientist (Clinical Trials)
Our client is a contract research organisation, based in the Bristol area, working closely with a range of biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients in order to develop new drugs for human disease. The company is in a phase of rapid expansion and wishes to appoint a Senior Scientist to help co-ordinate its clinical sample analysis capability.

Role and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be an integral part of a dynamic and flexible team which designs and conducts assays that assess the effects of new drugs in clinical trial samples. The individual will be expected to lead clinical laboratory projects, be client-facing and will be responsible for managing more junior colleagues. In addition, there will be some involvement in pre-clinical studies.
This role exists within our Analytical Services teams, who develop and run a wide range of immunological assays using techniques such as cell culture, ELISA, Luminex and flow cytometry. The post holder will design bespoke assays around specific project/drug target needs and then be able to validate and run these assays in order to assess the clinical response to novel treatments in Phase 1, 2 and 3 trials. As such, they will be working with partners to provide critical evidence for the effectiveness of their novel treatments as they move through the drug development process.

Experience and Qualifications
Prospective candidates should have a strong understanding of Immunology evidenced by a Master’s degree, PhD or substantive experience working in the field. They should have experience of the clinical trials process and in handling clinical trial samples and validating assays to investigate these. An ideal candidate will also have a good grasp of drug discovery/development and may have worked in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or CRO industry.
