Team Leader – Animal Technology
It’s an exciting time to join our client’s growing Laboratory Animal Technology team in Suffolk. The main role of this position is to manage the day-to-day activities of team members to provide high quality animal care to support and help deliver the needs of the business. The Team Leader will develop, motivate and counsel their staff and has responsibility for ensuring compliance with study plans and associated study documentation, GLP and legal requirements.

At times, the successful individual may deputise for the Animal Care and Welfare Officer.

As a Team Leader, your main responsibilities will be:
 Ensures that staff resources, equipment and materials are utilised effectively by planning future workloads with the AFM, Principal Team Leader and other Team Leaders
 Co‑operates and liaises with the Animal Facility Manager, Principal Team Leader and other Team Leaders to improve proficiency
 Reviews the training needs and progress of staff, devising individual training schedules in conjunction with the Animal Facility Manager/Principal Team Leader
 Assures integrity of the animal areas is maintained; makes recommendation for improvement, and checks the effectiveness of equipment
 Devises husbandry routines and amends as necessary
 Supervises the preparation for and receipt of, animals into the facility
 Organises collection of health monitoring samples as required

The skills and experience we’re looking for are:
 Demonstrable technical experience within Laboratory Animal Technologies.
 Home Office Personal License Holder
 Demonstrable leadership competencies.
 Technical competence with more than one species or scientific discipline.
 Competent to undertake the role of NACWO
 Level 3 or higher qualifications in Animal Technology
 Registered Animal Technologist
