Trainee Necropsy Technician
Huntingdon, East Anglia

Our Client is looking to recruit a Trainee Necropsy Technician to join their established, knowledgeable and busy team. This role is the introduction and basic training in necropsy, working under supervision of Senior technicians. The Trainee will receive training and work towards gaining competency in routine necropsy techniques, ensuring compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), Health and Safety and Study Plans.

The Trainee Necropsy Technician will develop the skills and knowledge required to harvest a full range of organs and tissues on small animals and sampling on large animals to the required quality and quantity.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs routine basic necropsy techniques for rodents.

Trims and retains a full range of organs and tissues for small animals.

Uses on-line data capture system.

Becomes competent at GI tract examination and sampling on large animals.

Demonstrates quality and production competencies.

Performs non-routine tasks such as freezing tissues under supervision.

Maintains a good standard of housekeeping within the laboratory.

Under guidance will comply with Health and Safety and GLP legislation and guidelines.

Reads and complies with SOPs and Policies and Procedures related to the work they are conducting and the position they hold.

Take ownership of their Personal Portfolio and electronic Training Record.

Develops a good working relationship with team members and senior staff within the department.

Demonstrates flexibility and positive cooperation to meet business requirements through learning new techniques or assisting in another department.

Job Requirements:

Demonstrates an ability to learn

Good manual dexterity and attention to detail

Previous experience within a laboratory environment

Ideally 5 GCSE level passes (C or above or equivalent) including Maths, Science and English.
