As an Animal Technician for our client, your responsibilities will include the day to day husbandry, care and welfare of the animals at the site.
Main responsibilities as an Animal Technician include but not limited to:
- Performing routine animal husbandry, as well as keeping detailed records of health checks
- Handling, sexing and identifying animals to ensure high standards of animal care and welfare are maintained
- Maintaining specific animal rooms, including basic housekeeping of animal areas, following strict hygiene rules
- Carrying out routine regulated procedures
What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?
- Institute of Animal Technology Certificate or equivalent
- Experience within an animal facility
- Awareness of ASPA and the 3 R’s
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience of handling and sexing offspring would be to an advantage
- Experience of contributing to and following SOPs would be desirable
- Candidate must be available to work 1 in 3 weekends
- Candidate must be physically fit due to some lifting and standing for the majority of shifts
