Aquatic Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for an Aquatic Technician to join one of the largest institutes in the Northwest, assisting with their day-to-day workload!
As the Aquatic Technician, your main role will be to look after and care for the unit’s zebrafish, Xenopus laevis & Xenopus tropicalis.
Your main duties will include:
- Daily health checks
- Feeding in accordance to outlined schedule
- Husbandry tasks, e.g. tank cleaning
- Fulfilling user breeding requests
- System maintenance
- Stock checks of both animals & consumables
- Record keeping
- Regulated procedures, more notably fin clipping
- Attending monthly meetings with users
- Potential to become a trainer
- Facilitating bi-annual servicing to life support
- Water quality testing
The successful candidate will have experience of working with at least one of the following species: zebrafish, Xenopus laevis or Xenopus tropicalis and ideally have some knowledge of the others. You will be working as a part of the larger aquatics team and there will also be an opportunity to grow your knowledge and learn other species.
