S3 Science is proud to be working exclusively with our globally renowned client, to recruit a Biological Services Facility Director on a permanent basis. You will have executive responsibility for the client’s Laboratory Animal Facilities to deliver an efficient and flexible service to all internal and external users.
Main responsibilities
We have summarised some of the main responsibilities of the Biological Services Facility Director role below, but this list is not exhaustive, and a full job description can be provided on request:
- Directly accountable to the Establishment Licence Holder (Registrar) to ensure compliance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and with associated relevant legislation
- Responsible for the budget and financial viability of the facilities
- Health and Safety Management
- Performance and operational delivery
- Home Office Licensing and the Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body (AWERB)
- Leadership and management
Role requirements
To be successful in the role of Biological Services Facility Director, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Leadership and management skills
- Project management skills
- Extensive in-depth knowledge, experience and understanding of the operation of ASPA
- Recognised as an expert within the field as a professional laboratory animal facility manager and active member of appropriate professional bodies
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is desirable
- Relevant science degree and professional qualifications e.g. Fellowship of the Institute of Animal Technology or be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
