As a Synthetic Organic Chemist for our client, you will have the opportunity to work at one of their state-of-the-art laboratories. You will be joining a motivated and experienced team of Synthetic and Medicinal Chemists. This is a 1-3 month contract role to start immediately.

 

Main responsibilities as a Synthetic Organic Chemist include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for the synthesis of novel drug-like molecules destined for biological testing
  • Preparing customer reports according to specific customer requirements, upholding the highest level of scientific integrity
  • Communicating effectively with your team and show flexibility when priorities change
  • Showing enthusiasm for learning new skills and will be expected to assist with routine tasks

 

 

What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?

Essential requirements include:

  • A degree in Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry (2:1 or above) with a final-year organic synthesis research project, as well as an industrial placement year working in organic chemistry
  • To be familiar with common techniques of organic synthesis
  • A good knowledge and understanding of organic chemistry
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work as part of team
  • Willing to learn new things and an enthusiastic work ethic

 

Desirable requirements:

  • PhD in organic or medicinal chemistry
  • Industrial experience of working in organic synthesis in early-stage drug-discovery, either with a Pharmaceutical, Biotech, CRO or academic drug-discovery unit
  • Knowledge of basic principles of medicinal chemistry

Salary: 25,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience
