Animal Research Facility Manager

Do you hold extensive experience in an animal research facility?
We are looking for an organised and experienced animal facilities manager to manage two facilities as part of a small team. The overall role is to be the first point of contact for Animal Technicians, research users and both internal and external stakeholders.
Our client is a world-class university based in West London. Their aim is to develop excellent research and educational programmes in fields such as biosciences, sports, health and exercise sciences, environmental sciences, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
You will hold responsibility for managing research spaces, animal stock and consumable levels, training and supporting technical staff, inducting and guiding research users and overseeing the safe and compliant running of the facilities.
The ideal candidate will have the following certificates/ experience:
- Named Training and Competency Officer (NTCO)
- Named Animal Care & Welfare Officer (NACWO)
- Institute of Animal Technology (IAT) Level 3
- Demonstrable experience in a Senior Technician or Facility Manager role
- Proven experience of organising the day-to-day operations of an academic research facility together with effective supervision and training of technical and research staff
- A Home Office Personal Licence and be able to demonstrate competence in a range of commonly used techniques and procedures
- A knowledge of transgenic breeding disciplines of both rodents and aquatics
- The ability to prioritise your own workload under minimum supervision
- You will be required to contribute to an emergency call-out rota / coordinate overtime, weekend and holiday cover provided by a team of research technicians
