Here at S3 Science, we are proud to be exclusively recruiting for a prestigious research institute in the United States of America, looking to appoint their next Director for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
This is a highly responsible position, which involves the management of IACUC Office and staff supporting the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) activities, including supporting the IACUC Chair and their role. The IACUC serves the research animal programs at the National Primate Research Center, and 2 other campuses.
The Role
As the IACUC Director your role will include the functions but not limited too:
- Oversee staff providing the IACUC Chair with recommendations for appointing reviewers of protocols. The Chair appoints reviewers and the IACUC Office Director and staff track which IACUC members are most appropriate for the review
- Director and staff organize and provide the IACUC Chair with drafts of IACUC meeting agendas and minutes for the Chair to revise if needed
- Execute operational policies for the IACUC Office and act as liaison between IACUC and research investigators, the IACUC Chair, the Department of Comparative Medicine, the Division of Veterinary Medicine, and other institutional offices
- Provide preliminary screening of animal research protocols prior to submission to the IACUC
Role Requirements:
To be successful in your application, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree and five years of IACUC administration experience or animal research regulatory oversight; or High School Diploma/equivalent and eleven years of IACUC administration or animal research regulatory oversight experience
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply all relevant Federal, State, local, and institutional regulations, policies, and federal guidance documents
- Proven management experience and history of supervising staff
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex issues and problem solve
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to compose reports, correspondence, and summaries in a comprehensive and organized manner
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment, overseeing and prioritizing multiple diverse tasks with deadlines
