We are looking for Licenced Animal Technicians, to join our client’s Centre for Excellence in Therapeutics.
The successful Licenced Animal Technicians will be based within the Centre of Excellence for Long-acting Therapeutics and working within a multi-disciplinary team comprising academics, clinical researchers, postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, technical and administrative staff engaged in delivering fundamental science that is important for translation of transformative drug delivery technologies.
The successful Licenced Animal Technicians will have significant experience of In Vivo Experiments. You will be expected to carry out a range of procedures including surgery when required. Further job details are below:
- Understand the requirements of the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 which governs the use of animals in scientific research
- Predict and interpret animal’s response
- Make independent decisions regarding experimental progress when necessary
- Record detailed information about each animal including weight, behavioural changes, etc
- Collecting samples and store appropriately for downstream analysis
- Supervises other technical staff in the relevant techniques and responsibility for their development
- Ensure the welfare of the animals is paramount and humane endpoints are fully adhered to
- Working at containment level 3 will be required including ensuring health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times
What experience and qualifications do I need?
- Home Office License modules A-B (module 4/surgery is desirable)
- Experience of delivering a specialised and professional technical service for In Vivo research
- Experience of providing technician assistance for In Vivo research utilising a wide range of techniques
- IAT qualification is desirable
