Licensed Animal Technician
Manchester, North West

As a Licensed Animal Technician, your role within the facility will be to ensure all animals are cared for to a high standard. You will be conducting experimental procedures, as well as providing technical support for a wide range of in vivo models within the Drug Discovery Team at our clients site based in Manchester. The role of a Licensed Animal Technician is vital to the care and welfare of animals within the unit.


Main responsibilities as a Licensed Animal Technician include but not limited to:

  • Carrying out day to day husbandry and care and welfare observations for all animals within the facility
  • Conducting surgical and non-surgical experimental procedures
  • Making observations, as well as keeping accurate records and capturing data
  • Keeping up to date with developments in animal technology
  • Training other staff in licensed and non-licensed techniques
  • Contributing towards the general cleaning and upkeep of the facility, as well as monitoring and recording environmental conditions
  • Using equipment safely and in an appropriate manner


What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?

  • HNC in Animal Technology or equivalent
  • Hold or have previously held a Personal License (PIL A and B) or equivalent
  • A significant amount of experience in the field of animal technology
  • Competent in a range of non-surgical skills, which includes licensed techniques and post mortem skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The suitable candidate must be able to commit to weekend rotas, as well as bank holiday cover for the unit

Salary: 20,000 to £28,500 per annum
