Here at S3 Science, we are looking to recruit a ‘hands on’ PSS Technician, who will be responsible for ensuring that the building they support is supplied with all materials necessary for it’s smooth running. This includes carrying out the required sterilisation and entry procedures/checks for each type of material.
Job Duties
In the role of PSS Technician, you will contribute to the success of the company by:
- Loading, operation and emptying/unloading of:
- Spray port, including the completion of any log sheets
- Fume chamber, including the completion of data collection, log and safety devices
- Shipping box
- Dunk tank
- Autoclave including disposing of waste and all data collection controls
- Cleaning and maintaining animal rooms and associated areas to the company’s written standards; washing animal cages using cage wash machine or manual method, setting animal cages up ready for use, completing appropriate records
- Reporting any damaged caging or entry equipment
- Maintaining water pipes and drinker fixtures
- Making transport boxes for customers for despatch and ensuring a sufficient supply is available for packing.
- Making culling boxes for transporting animals
- Making up diet sachets as required
- Receiving and dispatching of goods into and out of the barrier, with correct use of the sterilization procedures to maintain barrier status

Job Requirements
To be successful in the role of PSS Technician, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Our client operates with strict guidelines to ensure the highest levels of animal welfare and compliance. All our PSS Technicians must have the ability to follow guidelines including the client’s pet policy, PPE requirements, health and safety procedures and work instructions outlining the way in which tasks must be completed
- Good level of English to be able to understand written and verbal instructions
- Reliable with a good work ethic
- Comfortable working alone or within a larger team depending on the task
- Passion for animal welfare
Salary: 16,500 - £18,000
