You will support the development and production of myoblasts from stem cells to replace muscle. As a scientist, you will perform the following duties:
- Develop, optimise and characterise stem cell cultures and differentiation protocols to maximise conversion into muscle cells
- Optimise protocols for isolation and maintenance of primary stem cells in vitro
- Design and execute complex research and development experiments
- Select, follow, and adapt experimental protocols and generate laboratory SOPs
- Support the preparation of laboratory risk assessments and up-keep of health and safety protocols
Essential Experience:
- Extensive experience in muscle biology, with deep knowledge in stem cell biology, cell metabolism and development
- Experience in cell culture, including maintenance and differentiation of stem cells
- Substantial experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qRT-PCR, Western Blot, Flow cytometry and Imaging
- Skilled in troubleshooting and conducting multi-factorial experiments
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with cell isolation protocols from biological samples
- Familiarity with co-cultures and 3D culture systems
- Ability to apply Design of Experiments (DoE) to rationalize experiment design
- Ability to write SOPs and risk assessments
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Required of a Master or PhD in Life Sciences, Biotechnology or a related field
- Over two years of post-doctoral experience or industry experience in adipogenesis
Salary: £22,000 - £35,000
