We have a new opportunity for an experienced Section Head to join our client’s toxicology research facility. Our client makes a difference by supporting pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in the essential work of bringing lifesaving and life-enhancing products to patients and consumers. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the section including management, work, and staff.
Responsibilities
- To ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the method/s supplied, in a manner to obtain accurate results and to inform the Laboratory Manager or Business Manager of any circumstances arising that may jeopardise the integrity of such results
- To keep the Laboratory Manager or Business Manager informed concerning the status of the work, including situations which may lead to potential delays
- To undertake advanced technical procedures when this cannot be undertaken by another member in the team
- To ensure all data is collated, reviewed, and approved for laboratory records for the preparation of reports and for compliance with quality procedures for work performed in your section
- To be responsible for authorizing data
- Prepare protocols, reports, and other standard laboratory documentation in compliance with company procedures
- To take ownership and manage the team, train staff in their section
- Problem solve for all work that is undertaken, applying acquired expertise to analyse and solve problems including those without clear precedent. Identify root cause and appropriate actions, contributing ideas and suggestions to improve current process
- To communicate with customers and take ownership to ensure that the customers’ requirements are met on both time and quality
- Ensure work is completed to the required level of quality in a timely manner
- Deputise for the Laboratory Manager
- To promote company policy as formalised with the Laboratory Manager, Business Manager and where necessary the CEO and to discuss and advise matters affecting the implementation of this policy
- To ensure that work is undertaken within budgetary constraints and to pursue efficient working practices
- Undertake Continuing Professional Development and catalogue experience and CPD in training records
- To work in compliance with The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1989 (A(SP)A), GLP, GMP and the policies and procedures of HRL Quality System
- To conduct all activities in accordance with the site documents relating to Health and Safety
- To comply with written procedures and to comment on these as necessary
- To undertake work as directed by your Business Manager or Laboratory Manager including cross-training between areas of work as far as reasonably practicable
About you
- BSc in related field/equivalent industry experience
- Have a good understanding of managing samples through the Booking Reporting System and to book in samples received in Toxicology
- Proven experience in a senior role
- Hold a personal license and completed module 5
- To be Project License Holder for designated project
Salary: £27,000 - £40,000
