We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join our client, a growing biotech company based in Cambridge who are looking to expand their successful team! Our client is actively working on a portfolio of unique DNA projects and currently have two programmes in early phases of clinical development.
As Senior Principle Bioinformatics Scientist, your main role will include designing, managing and executing analyses across a range of different projects and managing the delivery of results in a timely manner. You will hold leadership roles within the Bioinformatics team, driving strategies on capability build and innovative technologies and methods.
Responsibilities:
- Project management and execution of analyses of translational datasets
- Supporting the Director of Bioinformatics in the delivery of key results packages and data summaries/visualisations to relevant stakeholders
- Technical leadership of integrative analysis, including driving adoption of new technologies/methods/tools
- Providing guidance on experimental design
- Establishing strong relationships with key collaborators, vendors and CROs
- Identifying and driving new strategies of data generation
- Assume key leadership roles in the Bioinformatics team, including supervision, mentorship and coaching of other team members
Experience:
- Post graduate degree in bioinformatics, oncology, computational biology, statistics, data science, human genetics or any other relevant scientific discipline
- Significant work experience (at least 5 years) in the oncology/cancer space
- Significant skills and experience of analysis and interpretation of cancer ‘omics data (particularly genomics). Variant/ CNV calling, variant annotation and interpretation
- Experience of working with TCGA/ICGC/PCAWG and other publicly available cancer datasets
- Statistical programming, data manipulation, analysis and visualisation
- Project management, delivery to agreed timelines and working on multiple projects
