Senior Scientist – Neuroscience
Edinburgh, Scotland

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Scientist, to specialise in Neuroscience, to join our client’s Translational Biology division, based in Edinburgh. The site offers specialist preclinical contract research services to Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies, focussed on Immuno-Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience and specialised multiplex Histology.

We are looking for an experienced Neuroscientist, ideally with a background of research in neuroscience and/or neurodegeneration (Stroke, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease), who will significantly contribute to the assay development and client project delivery in this area.


Main responsibilities as a Senior Scientist include but not limited to:

  • Working with the team and relevant academic contacts, as required, to ensure quality conduct and delivery of client projects
  • Line management of Scientists, delegation of project tasks across the team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of client data
  • Implementing quality control steps to ensure projects are conducted and delivered according to the standards expected, developing new or updating SOPs as required


This role requires someone with strong lab-based skills with prior experience of neuronal cell-based assays, ability to create new & relevant assay platforms, clear internal/external communication skills, ability to work in a team and capacity to multitask.


What experience and qualifications do I need?

  • Life science degree, PhD an advantage (ideally within the Neuroscience field) and minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Previous experience of Pharma/Biotech drug discovery or contract research desirable
  • Demonstrable laboratory experience and a strong cellular and molecular skill-set
