At S3 science we link our employer partners with candidates with one key focus ‘to train and place animal lovers into a career as Animal Technician. Our sole aim is to provide suitable, enthusiastic, and passionate Animal Technicians to employer partners nationwide.
As you can appreciate, with animal welfare being such a high priority all new trainee animal technicians must complete a short 12-week induction training programme. This will comprise of several short and very basic multiple-choice study modules and one weeks work experience. Successful candidates then progress onto paid work and continuous training as well as working alongside experienced and qualified Animal Technicians.
Daily duties working as an Animal Technician include;
- Feeding and watering
- General health checking
- Handling animals
- Cage cleaning and washing
The qualities of an Animal Technician are:
- High levels of motivation and a good work ethic
- A genuine passion to work with animals – demonstrating care, welfare, and compassion
- Previous experience working with (and handling) animals would be beneficial
- Accurate data entry
- Flexible and adaptable
- Enjoys working on your own and as part of a team
