We are proud to be working with one of the UK’s industry leaders in Life Sciences, recruiting for Animal Care Technicians to join our client’s growing team on a permanent basis. We are looking for ambitious individuals who aspire to secure a fulfilling role working with a variety of animal species whilst also having a real focus on their own career development.

Our client specialises in providing a broad range of animal research models and related services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic organisations that conduct crucial research into both Human and Veterinary medicine.

 

Due to the location and our client’s policy, you must be able to drive to site and have no rodent species as pets.

 

The Role

The role of Animal Technician will be suited to animal lovers who are passionate on improving animal welfare. If you are looking for a role that offers extensive training and career development, the role of Animal Technician may be the one for you. Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Working with animals on a daily basis whilst providing exceptional care and carrying out animal husbandry, including: providing fresh food and water, providing environmental enrichment, maintaining and ensuring high standards of hygiene for animals
  • Carrying out daily tasks, such as: temperature monitoring, animal checks and general housekeeping.
  • Carrying out a variety of laboratory tasks as instructed
  • Supporting the management of establishing breeding colonies
  • Setting up new breeding lines
  • Ensuring that all animal husbandry and procedure records are accurate and up to date
  • Providing weekend and bank holiday cover to ensure our animals are cared for 365 days per year

Requirements:

  • Strong empathy with animals
  • Recognised qualifications from either an Animal Care or scientific background
  • Understanding of the organisation and the work performed on site
  • Be an ambitious and determined individual to align with our client’s core values

 

Salary: £16,500 - £18,500
