Unit Supervisor

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our team as a Unit Supervisor. If you have experience leading a team within an animal facility or looking to take the step-up; get in touch!

The Role:

The primary role will be to coordinate the daily operations in a production facility and supervise a team of Animal Technicians. Supervisors must have advanced knowledge and experience in animal care, husbandry, supervising a unit as well as having good organizational and training skills, being a good communicator, and team-player.

The role is full time 37.5 hrs per week Monday to Friday with additional hours on a weekend/cover rota. Attractive salary dependant on experience, 25 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays.

The Person:

The desired candidate must demonstrate good interpersonal skills, possess the ability to work as part of a team and be self-motivated with a flexible approach.

The successful candidate will receive further training and have the opportunity to develop and learn within the client’s facility.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in animal care and husbandry.
  • A proven record of leading a team of animal technicians.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and regulatory bodies.
  • IAT Level 3 or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • NACWO qualified with a Home Office Personal Licence or must have the ability to obtain them.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Good Maths and English reading and writing skills.
  • Full driving license and own transport due to remote location.

Desirable Skills: 

  • Experience of performing regulated procedures.
  • Knowledge of Biosecurity
  • Knowledge of AAALAC
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality systems and procedures
